Wanted Research
Participants for Triathlon Study Contact:

Centre for Social Science Research as a constituent centre of the Institute for
Sustainable Regional Development and in conjunction with the Triathlon Research
Initiative is presently conducting a major research project into identity
formation, body politics and the Ultra-Distance Triathlon. As
a major component of this project the researchers wish to trial an innovative
research methodology using E-mail technology. The sport of Ultra-Distance
Triathlon would appear to be particularly suitable for this methodology, as
participants in the sport are geographically dispersed and are, in general,
technology friendly. Research
Participants would be asked to reply once a fortnight to approximately five
questions via E-mail. The participants would be able to reply at a time
convenient to their training schedule and in as much detail as they are
comfortable with. The research project will commence late May 2000 and continue
until September 2000. Participant
rights: Participants in this project are involved on a voluntary basis and are
free to withdraw from participating at any time without giving a reason. This
means you can withdraw permission for the information you have given to be used,
even after correspondence has taken place. We, the researchers agree to maintain
strict confidentiality at all times in dealing with the information you give us.
Lindsay and Geoffrey would also like to encourage feedback on the procedure as
